Dog Sled Tours in Michigan

2011 Season

our 2011 Season

Now you can enjoy the Dog Sled Vacation Adventure of a Lifetime. Imagine the thrill of driving your own Dog Team through the gorgeous, snowy Upper Peninsula of Michigan. With Tom Roig as your guide, you don't need any dog sledding experience. You'll quickly learn how to harness a Dog Team and handle the sled. You'll run the same trails that have been used for years by mushers training for the Iditarod. This is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime Winter Vacation Experience.

Two, Three and Four-Day Tours are available. Each provides a challenging, yet refreshing break from your day-to-day routine. You'll run out of Sled Dog Lodge, located 25 miles North of Newberry, Michigan — right in the heart of Snow County. You'll enjoy the quiet, pristine beauty of northern Michigan in the Winter, and bring back pictures that'll make you the envy of all your friends. And with no more than 2 people per trip, you'll get plenty of personal help and attention.

Choose any of our three packages. Each is guaranteed to provide an exciting and unique vacation experience:
PACKAGE #1         4-Day Adventure
Day 1:   Arrive at Camp in the morning, settle in, and get to know your Guide, the Dogs and the Equipment. You'll be given full instructions, then you'll harness-up for an 8-mile run.
Day 2:   You'll take a 14-mile Dog Sled Run — plus we'll try to squeeze in a trip to the beautiful Tahquamenon Falls, and maybe some snowshoeing.
Day 3:   Today's activities include a 25- to 30-mile run. You can either choose to return to Camp for the night, or you can spend the night camping along the trail Iditarod-style.
Day 4:   If you slept along the trail last night, today you'll return to Camp, then relax and enjoy the Michigan Wilderness for the rest of the day. If you slept in Camp last night, today you'll have a final 25-mile run, then return for your final night in Camp.
